Richard Somerset and Ian Meadows met purely by happenstance. During the infamous and ill advised Pop fest held for the Prince of Monaco (his Serene Highness Prince Rainier III) for his majesty's birthday, the two met at a quaint and decrepit 12th century café. Over Turkish coffee, their conversations turned to music, and thus Somerset Meadows was born.

Little is known about the past of Richard Somerset. His guitar has been heard in many bands, but by his own hand these projects have been sealed away as secret. It is know that he is fluent in Latin and favors handlebar moustaches.

Ian Meadows is at best an enigmatic character. His puckish lyrical leanings and unruly hair are trademarks. One time lead singer for a group of illegal Manchester refugees in Athens GA, Ian Meadows often uses a Nom de Plume, and favors stories that involve gigantic robots.
